Statement of Faith

OSSO is aligned with the principles, teachings, and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and will do all in its power to provide love and support to children deprived of parental care.

The two great commandments are to love God and love your neighbor. There is no greater transformative, healing power than that of loving and being loved. OSSO employees and volunteers take seriously Christ's parable of the Good Samaritan. As such, we strive to recognize and know those needing help, bind up wounds, show love, and assist in healing. Our goal and promise is to provide volunteers with opportunities to be Good Samaritans by demonstrating Godโ€™s love to children in need.

In a similar vein, James stated, "Pure religion . . is this, to visit the fatherless . . in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world," (James 1:27). We strive to support and love children deprived of families and to help them to recognize their divine potential.

The family is ordained of God, and parents have a solemn responsibility to love and care for their children (The Family: A Proclamation to the World). When parents are absent or cannot provide that love and care, it becomes the God-given responsibility and blessing for others to do so. OSSO employees and volunteers seek to provide that love and care and assist other organizations to do so.

While OSSOโ€™s leadership and staff members are predominantly members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, individuals, families, and groups of all backgrounds are invited to volunteer, so long as they commit to maintaining our code of conduct. OSSO also welcome donors of all faiths, traditions, and backgrounds to join our cause.

Additionally, OSSO considers it the right of the organizations we supports to determine the religious context in which love and support is given, and we are committed to not interfering with that right.

Orphanage Support Services Organization

OSSO is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aligned with the principles, teachings, and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; however, OSSO is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Church. While primarily a member-created organization, volunteer opportunities are open to people of all faiths who are willing to follow OSSO's code of conduct.
